ABOUT US

The South African Tobacco Transformation Alliance, SATTA, represents people working in the tobacco farming, processing and manufacturing industries.

WHO WE ARE

The South Africa Tobacco Transformation Alliance represents people working in the tobacco farming, processing and manufacturing industries across five growing provinces who are committed to supporting transformation and economic development.

We are the voice of South Africa’s legal local tobacco leaf and manufacturing industry.

We are committed to promoting the interests of the tobacco products value chain, and protecting it from threats such as the illicit tobacco trade.

Our members span the legal tobacco products value chain, from farming through to processing and manufacturing, and we are building links with others in the value chain – such as retailers and consumers – to ensure we protect and promote the interests of the industry as a whole.

We support fundamental economic development and transformation — and in particular skills development, the growth of small and micro industries and rural development.

Our members work together to campaign in favour of the industry, and to fight the illegal cigarette trade, which threatens jobs and legal businesses who contribute significantly to the fiscus.

Our mission
  • Support the local leaf industry
  • Expose and oppose the illegal cigarette traders
  • Support transformation in rural communities
  • Contribute to tobacco control and harm reduction
